Nobody accidentally builds a thriving business. So why do we expect to accidentally build a successful marriage?

So why do we expect to accidentally build a successful marriage?
Behind every successful career is preparation, learning, consistency and hard work. The same should be true for marriage.
Marriage may begin with love, but a healthy and lasting marriage requires more than love. It requires preparation.
The bedrock of every healthy and fulfilling relationship and marriage is intentional preparation.
Learn communication. Learn how to resolve conflicts.
Understand your values and expectations.
Heal from past experiences. Understand finances and build financial responsibility.
Learn how to set healthy boundaries. Build emotional maturity.
Understand what marriage truly requires before saying, “I do.”
And just as you invest in your career, invest in your love life.
Buy books that teach you about relationships and marriage. Attend seminars and relationship conversations—both free and paid.
Take courses. Ask questions. Learn from people who have the knowledge and experience to guide you.
And when necessary, seek the help of a professional counsellor or relationship coach.
We don't complain about the cost of education when we are building our careers. So why should learning how to build a healthy marriage be considered a waste of money or time?
Marriage is not something you prepare for after the wedding. You prepare before you say yes.
Don't just prepare to find someone. Prepare yourself to love well, communicate well, choose wisely, handle conflict, grow together and build intentionally.
At Covenant Connect, we believe intentional relationships should lead to intentional marriages.
Invest in your future marriage today, not only when the wedding date is approaching.
I wish you all the best.
